Okay my friends, here is the photo of the 6 volt pos ground regulator that my friend made up out of another regulator. This one is solid state with a circuit board and diodes. As I said it has been bench tested with positive results. I should have my 49 F1 back from winter storage by the end of next week and we are going to give it a try. I will let you know how it goes
Thank you for that information. I just looked them up and they are not that far away from me. I am in Central Ma
Where in MA are you? I am near Great Barrington. I usually drive to down to Chuck's to get my parts if it is anything on the larger side or if I have specific questions. He is always very helpful and incredibly knowledgeable, plus his shop is pretty cool.
looks professional and very cool! Is SJB someones initials? and does "REV 4" mean 4th revision?
The only other thing it needs is "6V Pos Gnd" printed on the circuit board. Well done, I hope it works! Your gonna need a clear cover to show it off !

Another week I will have the truck back from winter storage, then install it and try it. Keep you all posted
Is this for an alternator only or will it work with a generator as well? Very cool. I hope it works out.
Generator and alternator regulators are different. Solid state alternator regulators have been around for decades. Having something custom made just for our old trucks like this is pretty cool. https://www.partsgeek.com/8bqx4rn-fo...a93aab739f8466

This was made for a 6 volt pos ground generator. I will be trying it out next weekend to see how it works
Okay guys, I had posted earlier about the solid state regulator for my 6 volt pos ground 49 Ford F1. A friend of mine who is a retired professor from WPI college in Worcester Ma developed a circuit board solid state regulator for my truck. . I got the truck out of winter storage this past weekend and installed it with no problems. I took it out and have test driven it both day and night time with fantastic charging results. A question was asked on this forum as to how it would handle the extra heat under the hood. It was constructed with high temp automotive diodes so there should not be any problems. Since I installed it I haven't had to use the knife switch disconnect on the battery since. So far I am impressed with it
Hats off to your friend for making this, and you for trying it out. Shaping up to be a viable solution for bad regulators. I have a couple original Fomoco ones, one I cosmetically restored , internals not tested.

Let us know when they might be available for sale!
Does it simply drive the generator at a constant and then raise/lower the BAT terminal voltage?
What is the frequency range and/or shape of the Field terminal signal?
What are the capacitance limits (ie for Radio noise suppression etc) on the Arm terminal?
What is the current limit? Is it adaptable to the different Ford/Mercury generator options (I see no configuration components such as jumpers or dip switches)?
