I was thinking about installing a Lund visor on my SD. However, when I inquired at the local autobody shop I was told that some visors will generate alot of wind noise. The "personal story" example I was given was regarding a visor on a newer Chevy, not a Ford SD. But, until the wind noise issue was brought up I never gave it any thought...but now, obviously I am.
Has anyone experienced additional wind noise as a result of installing a visor on their SD?
I just drove a buddy's truck and YES there was noise from the visor. At about 60 mph I thought his engine bay had a weird noise. After a while I figured out it was the visor.
You could try stick on wheel weights to keep it from vibrating.
I'd avoid the visor. They can be a lot of trouble, and I haven't ridden in a truck yet with one that didn't make a lot of noise. They screw up the aerodynamics real good, too, lowering your gas mileage. If you HAVE to have one, make sure you get a money-back guarantee if you aren't happy with it.
I installed the new Lund "Lunar" series visor to my SD, it has a lower, sharper, more aerodynamic profile to it, it slices through the wind and is ported to allow wind through it. I don't have any wind noise or vibration, it added great looks to the truck, I'm not at all disappointed with the visor.

Why? once it is installed, taking it off would require bodywork to fill the holes in the roof. Guarantee won't cover that.
As far as the visor, I have the lund sunvisor on my truck. It does make some noise, although, I don't pay much attention to it. It's not overwelming. The problem I do have, is that the bolts keep loosening up, letting it rattle. I like it, but, sometimes it's agrivating.
I had a Lund visor on my last truck and it made a tremendous amount of wind noise. I would not put a visor on my truck again although I did like the way it looked.
