Hello folks! Well after the 3rd attempt to fix my small leak from the upper pan, I see one drip starting to form from the same area on the drivers side front of the pan. Seems to me its coming from one single solitary bolt. THey 90% fixed it but not quite. Service manager called me and he is going to call in a ford engineer and we are supposed to put the truck on the rack next week and all look at it together. I asked them to check the crank case vent filter last time and they did not. Any other suggestions ? I was going to Take it to another dealer about an hour away but they assured me they want the opportunity to fix it correctly with the engineer there. I wonder if there is a small burr in the housing in that one spot? Who kmows. Its not a big leak certainly but at 26K miles I just want it fixed. When they sent me the survey from Ford I mentioned on it that it was repaired for the same thing 3x so ford must have got on their case. Thanks!
As a Retired master tech for another brand there are 3 places I would look , first is the dipstick just above that area and leaking down? second is whether the FIPG is being applied properly, any oil on the sealing surfaces will cause it not to adhere and give a passage for a leak. Third and worst is an imperfection in the sealing surface, either a slight crack in the housing or a warpage of the sealing surface. wish you the best, some of these problems are caused by unusual circumstances.
They sell delete kits for the CCV filter. I am not sure if this is where your problem originates from but when it comes time to replace mine, I will opt to install one of these kits. I think they are pretty simple, but I’m not sure it will fix your problem if it’s the upper oil pan. My Dad just had this work done on his truck, 2018 6.7L, upper oil pan leak fixed, and CCV filter replaced, 29 hours of labor, two weeks in the shop, $4600, covered by his extended warranty.
