For those of you with the 4.9 and msd 6a - probably an upgraded coil as well - what plug are you using? The narrative on the msd website suggests a "cooler" plug if you are using their product, but I don't have any tangible ideas as to what a cooler plug would be.

colder heat range
MSD coil is not going to do you anything good. an OEM v8 coil (like a junkyard) or new one from ford if you can still find one will be 100% better than an MSD one. it can tolerate plat/iridium if youd like more miles on a plug but copper goives you the most juice but you need to gap and replace them earlier in life

Spark plug heat range
BRF 52
BRF 62
BRF 32
The 32 is colder than the 52 or 62
So, a 69 Z-28 takes a R43 AC Delco plug
A 75 Corvette takes a R45
The hotrod motors get a colder plug
MSD is assuming you upped the compression and have a modified High Performance engine
I think you are fine with the factory plug
Those 4.9's used to "blister" plugs anyway (because the ignition system worked so well) (hint)
