Only Ford would publish a software update that throws a check engine light...
Priority Update - Keyfob
Enhanced Smart Unlock
We've refined your vehicle's smart entry system to provide smoother, more consistent vehicle access. This helps your vehicle to always be ready for you, even after it's been in power-saving mode. After the update, some settings may be reset, potentially causing a check engine light to appear in your vehicle. The check engine light has no impact to your vehicle and will clear after a few drives. No further action is required at this time.
I got a notice for this update yesterday, it said it would happen between 1 and 4 A.M. Also states that during the update you will not be able to enter and use your vehicle. Is this a common thing with the other manufacturers?

Depends on which module the update applies to.
Kinda hard for the vehicle to operate normally while something like that pcm is being updated, for example.
While an update to the APIM could be applied while you are driving down the road.
I got this same one yesterday; thought the check engine thing was odd also but whatever, makes no difference. It reset a lot of my settings but that just took a minute to fix. Do you have any menu options in settings or features about intelligent access or approach lighting? I can find none
Mine got the update last night too. It also currently has a check engine light but it has only been started once so far.
I sure wish they would push an update so the My View screen would stick!!! Ground hog day after about 4 hours between starts.

I can't find any, no. I've driven a few times this AM, in & out, and the check engine light is still on. I'm sure it will go off, but surely they can write an update that processes correctly w/o throwing a code. That's just embarrassing.

Turned off after a day on its own.
I used to do a lot of ECM/ECU tuning work and have a general understanding of these things; I'm sure it happens for a reason as a lot of things seemed to reset with that update. Likely it's a different module picking up the changes which doesn't need to be flashed unnecessarily, and the truck just needs drive cycles to relearn. The light doesn't necessarily mean a code was set. Now if they didn't specifically address the light in the wording, that would be embarrassing.
