Should I be worried????
I did an oil sample once and it told me nothing and the little feel good paragraph didn’t offset the sample costs.
especially in engines with high loads, over it's life
We use them in aviation as example to give us insight on possible failures
My over 40 years of plane fixing
Only 2 times was an item removed and replaced
due to oil analysis
Usually it was changed lube, retest in xx hours
Then move on
It's used in industrial areas as well to maximize oil change intervals, and reduced out of service times.
I used to do them in my 7.3 ps
but..found cost vs changing oil at normal intervals was better deal and that engine was still tip top when it was sold with over 90k
On it, and it had oil guard by pass from day 30
If I was going to do them now
Do one at 1st change then one at maybe change 5 .
If you need a warm fuzzy
But oils today, build tolerance and filtration is much much better than even 10 years ago
Change oil at intervals that fit in your real world usage.
I know from my old assss.
i see many of same people from way back at desiel site..and other desiel forums
Thats at least 25 years of experience
we are the hutch followers🤗
take it or ignore it
I have been powerboatr forever.
Somehow it got nixed here
I will add...the 6.7 now is light years ahead of our beloved 7.3 .
truly amazing power plant for a pickup
every thing it's expected to do, and please the epa a bit
It makes my 8.3 isc...take second look
There’s guys like myself with superchargers on these kick crap out of them…… and I just do an oil change every 6000 miles with the factory filter…. And who’s got time for worrying?
and if something breaks, it’s not the end of the world fix it
agreed
use the oil test money to buy new oil and just change the oil
a other factor is you need to test the new oil before you put it in to see how many parts per million was introduced by the new oil.
and did you flush out the new oil filter with fresh oil to get all the parts per million particles out of the filter before you installed the filter.
