Confused E4OD after replaced speed sensor???

Confused E4OD after replaced speed sensor???
1997 F250 E4OD 4wd —
Had regular speed sensor issues and replaced the speed sensor in the rear differential. But nothing changed.
starts driving normally but at 20mph speedo drops to 0 and starts bouncing all over, tranny gets confused and it’s like I’m in neutral.
If i select 1st or 2nd on column it’s normal.
Overdrive light on shifter handle is not blinking. works as normal.
CEL and code for VSS but i just replaced it.
Is this a transmission issue? any advice helps.

The VSS code doesn't always mean the VSS is bad. It can also be caused by a bad wire to the VSS, a bad PSOM (Programmable Speedo-Odo Module,) or something damaged inside the differential. My money is on the PSOM to win, the wiring to place, and the diff problem a distant show.

If you've never done SMT(surface mount tech) soldering before, better to leave it to outfits like clusterfix.net or autotechrescue.com
