I am replacing my clutch, during the removal process I assumed the crossmember was symmetrical. When I went to paint it I noticed there is a pitch built into it when it’s laid down on a flat surface.
The truck is a 76 f100 with inline 300 and 3.03 manual.
I assume (here we go again) that when installed the transmission cross member should be installed to be “flat.”
The only “identifiable” markings on the crossmember are two little notches, on only one side (on the same parallel edge) of the crossmember on the very outer corners by the frame bolt holes
I may be wrong but from what I recall the engine and transmission are offset to the passenger side slightly, and as such the holes in the crossmember are also off center and it would be somewhat challenging to actually install it backwards.
