Don't know 100% fr sure bout 52+, for sure, but I thought in 51 they implemented mandatory mirrors - hence the factory add on for the 48-50...
As far as good visibility, and what I wish I had gone with - west coast junior is the way to go for the right style and good visibility.
Hi, I got a 1956 Ford F100 what mirrors I could install that looks good and have a good visibility even if they are from a different car no problem.
If you are going with smallish mirrors I would recommend a rear facing camera, I use wolfbox, it attaches to the rear view mirror and has front and rear camera, gives a very wide angle view behind and records front and back.
Blooki sent me pictures of his truck. Blooki, as most of the guys here know, I tout using the stock mirrors and arms that Ford dealers put on when new. But they are not reproduced and are hard to find .
Alblooki, after looking at your pictures the stock mirrors would not look right on your very nice 56. And as Brain75 mentioned above West Coast Jrs would not look right. The little round shiny mirrors that reproduction houses foist upon us a originals do not show a good view behind you.
So I'd recommend something like John Niolon used or like John from Canada used on his two beautiful 56 trucks. Hopefully he will check in here with information.
I was looking for a post that was about a year ago that had info on installing a larger mirror head on the repo arm that I had posted on and I can't find it now.
in old F1's last post, the first referenced thread post #21 is what I got (from Mac's Antique Auto), and that was supposed to be a reproduction of the ones offered by Ford when NHTSA required mirrors be added to all new models (at first driver side only).
I liked the look and style and fit but you just can't see much out of em, so I took those swan neck's and put the later referenced Napa mirrors on em - everything works fine except it did need the bolt trimmed or a spacer. I went with a short spacer.
I didn't want to spend money on more mirrors after having spent for those, so I left it... but if I had all the knowledge now I would have just jumped straight to west coast jr's.
