You guys that slightly use your trucks, would you bedline the tail gate?
I have done the fire wall and under fenders and bedsides under fenders, it seems the tailgate would be a vulnerable area loading luggage and light stuff.
I spent a good bit of time and filler get this straight....
my '48 is a stakeside (flatbed), so no tailgate to line, but on my '90 ranger I did. The 2 things I did not spray liner on are the 4 bolts holding the bed on and the 3 bolts holding the lock mechanism on - easier removal and adjustment without digging liner out of tiny T20 torq. (for the 6 big T50 bed bolts I just pulled them during spray, for the little T20's I masked em off with tape)
If I ever get to the point of bedliner...i am planning to bodywork and paint the inside of the bed and tailgate, then spray the bedliner with the factory color tint, thoughts?

i'm hoping one day to haul my motorcycle to the vintage races, runs to the hardware store, etc. .... i'd like to use the truck without worrying about scratching the bed

They make a clear bedliner that you add the body color to it prior to spraying, it's supposed to have the "look" of the body color. I've never used it so I can't speak to how it will look once sprayed.

I have also seen advertised a spray in bed liner that lays more flat, less texture, that be more of your liking on the tailgate to show the smooth bodywork. Another option possibly.
Cab looks great by the way.

I use Raptor bedliner almost exclusively now. When I sprayed the inside of my fenders and outside of my inner fenders, I wanted a smoother texture so I just thinned the bedliner as directed in the product literature and sprayed it with my primer gun. The finish looks like a fine top grain leather... durable but no texture to hold dirt.
