The external temperature sensor in my 2024 F-250 started to mis read the ambient temperatures.
I searched the forum and could not find anything for super duty 23MY+.
Any one else having this issue and what was the fix?
For instance yesterday it was 45F ambient and I remote started the truck from across my works large parking lot.
When I got in and hit the start button to fire up the truck i notice my seat cooler and AC was on.

I had to replace the sensor on my 2023, maybe 6 months after I got it. I got in the truck one day and it was reading something like 125 degrees, then I would get two dashes. Replaced the sensor, on the bottom of the passenger side mirror and it's been fine ever sense. I ordered it from AutoNationParts.com, Part Number M2DZ-12A647-A, Ambient Temp Sensor $4.43 plus S&H.
My 2024 F350 6.7 HO had the same just before Christmas and it just got fixed today. New external temp sensor. It screws up the heater controls.
People on line as well as my dealer said, use the heater in manual mode until it’s fixed. Unfortunately, that’s not true. If the temp is not in “High” mode, then the AC is on, because it thinks it’s hot outside. I would have to put the temp on high and the fan on low until it became too hot in the cab and had to shut it all off. The windows would fog up so I had to turn it on. Wash rinse repeat. Super annoying!
this 2000 miles odometer truck was also the recipient of:
bad proximity sensor controller.
bad AC compressor.
bad Hydraulic cooling fan
now this bad outside temp sensor
Took it to the dealer today to get it serviced and have them take a look.
Just got a call and they said that sensor is now on "national back order".
Going to search for the part myself and then make them install it.
To follow up on my previous post....
there are a couple dealerships that have this OEM part on hand....
In speaking with my service advisor at my local dealership indicated that it would have to come from ford direct for it to be "warrantied".
The question I asked was, "if i can find this part and I deliver it to you can you just install it"
Before all the folks come down my throat, yes I get I can buy it and then install myself but why would I do that if they will do it for free and take "responsibility if something goes wrong.
He said it must come from Ford direct if I want them to warrants it moving forward...
Thoughts?

man, it's a $5 part and takes 2 minutes to install. i would not waste my time taking the truck to the dealer to replace this. so what if it fails again, another $5 and 2 minutes. if you like going to the dealer and wasting 1/2 your day or more, then take it to the dealer. to each is own...
It is a super easy install. The sensor is on the bottom side of the passenger mirror housing. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pop out the broken sensor. There is 3 to 4 inches of wire to pull the sensor out. Unplugged the old sensor, plug in the new sensor and clip back into place. On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a 0.5 installed. Mine is still working as intended.

Yeah my dealership is super easy. They either give me a loaner, uber me home and then back, or will come and pick up/drop off the truck. Which ever I choose. I also have another vehicle I drive 95% of the time.

I have a weird issue with a 2024 Platinum's Cabin Temperature. The hotter it gets outside, the higher I have to turn the cabin temperature up or you freeze. The colder it gets outside, the colder you have to set the cabin temperature or you fry. At 77F you've got to run the A/C at 74F. At 21F outside, you've got to run it at 61F. The system is in Auto. There are no error codes or TSBs so the dealer says they can't do anything about it. Imagine buying a $100K new truck that doesn't work right and the purchasing dealer doesn't care... VIN: 1FT8W2BM5REE06823 (2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty 4X4 Platinum).
My previous F-150 Lariat kept the Cabin Temp at 71F regardless of the outside ambient temp... It did have the outside sensor go bad once and it went wonky. It also had the driver's side sensor (under neath center dash) and it acted weird as well. It spent four days at multiple dealers and none of them could fix it. I just replaced the sensors when I accidentally discovered them when I had the top dash torn apart.
What does the external temp say it is? is it accurate?
When my sensor (now fixed) was out of whack it would say 50-60'F over the ambient temp.
Had to have the heater on high with AC on for it to function normally. When it was not on high it would blow cold air with AC on.

The Outside Sensor is spot on. I'm thinking either the Blend Door isn't fully opening/closing. The dealer won't even look at it if they don't 100% know that is the issue going in. I really need support from Ford since the dealer won't troubleshoot...
