Hello, does anyone know if the engine brake needs the front camera to sense going downhill? My engine brake has stopped turning on but according to the tech that looked at it, it is functioning electrically but he claims that my bumper is blocking the camera which is true it is partially blocked. However it has worked fine up until about 6 weeks ago.
thanks
Exhaust brake has nothing to do with the front camera, doesn't need it to work, lots of trucks with the EB that don't have a front camera.
Are you trying both positions for the brake, full and auto?
Yes, That’s what I thought. Couldn’t make sense of what they said and they didnt respond when I said it has been working fine up until a couple of weeks ago.
Nothing happens when I press the switch and cycle through it. Nothing comes up on the dash for On or Auto

The fact that nothing comes up in the dash when the switch is pressed should have been an indication to the tech that something is wrong. There should be a message on the display when initially turned on. Also, an small exhaust brake icon stays lit.

Definitely an idiot for a tech.
I don't recall if there is a fuse for the EB, but sounds like something isn't getting power, so that would be the first place I would look.

The fuse is a 20 amp unit. It is position F3 in the Battery Junction Box.
I had another electrical failure with only 3.4V on the 7 pin trailer connection for my trailer lights. brake and turn working fine. I was on a road trip and took it to a ford dealer who reported the body control module was faulty. They replaced it but neither the engine brake or trailer lights were repaired. I managed to get home by tapping into the rear taillight so that I had trailer lights. On the way back the fog lights also stopped working.
Took it to another Ford Dealer and they said there were continuity issues with the harness. They replaced the wiring harness along with the fuse box and associated modules and so far everything is working fine again.
still at a loss why there would be what seems to have been a gradual failure of the wiring harness?
