VIN Decoding

Hi all - looking at a Ford F100 unibody (told its a 1962, but not sure on the year) and the VIN is not jiving. The plate was lost (not behind glove compartment or on the door). I looked on the frame and found what appears to be the VIN as F101E767345.

When looking at 1961-62 VIN decoder
F10 - 2 wheel drive
1 - 6 cyl 223 C.I.D. - this would be for export, which makes sense, because this truck is international
E - Mahwah
767345 - this is where the VIN doesn't line up. 1962 model doesn't go above 339000 - Ford doesn't reach 767345 on F100 production until 1966.

Thoughts? Any help is appreaciated!

Interesting..... First thing I would do is check the second location for the frame stamped warranty #, It is there twice. Compare it to the one you posted and see if there are differences. The "1" does not indicate 223... A is the code if an export or J of domestic 223. The first 7 in the consecutive unit # looks odd... It shouldn't go to a single point in the upper right corner... See the other 7. On the body there are a few details like grille and hood badge that say 63, but of course those can be swapped. The 61-62 door step rib pattern is unique to 61-62... That will tell you if the body is a 63 or not. Is it a straight axle? That non-original bumper looks to be held on with 6 bolts which would be consistent with the 61-63 years... Show us some more pictures... Looks nice and straight.

The other warranty number stamped on the frame has been altered - see photo below. It reads F10YEH92089

Could you point me toward an example of the door step rib pattern? Not sure about the axles, I'll have to double check that. I'm new to these types of trucks! Thanks for your help!

Ok, Cool, We're getting closer... I assume the second frame # you sent is toward the front? It translates as a 1970 # built in April 1970. The "Y" is a 360 V8. The H is part of the consecutive unit #. Decoding Your 1970 Ford Truck VIN - FORDification.com
By what I can see of the front suspension it's not a straight axle as it would have been. So I would say the front part of the frame is a 1970. The other # has me stumped. Maybe pre 57? I only have books that go back that far....
Here are pics of the step differences between 61-62 and the 63 and newer including non Uni Slicks. What engine is in the truck now?

Young man. I got no dog in this fight but if I were you, I would pass on that one. My guess is if you look closely, you will find more body filler than metal. I don't see how you can get a clean title for that truck. You may be able to get a salvage title but that generally cuts the resale in half.

Correct, the second VIN (V10YEH92089) was adjacent to the front suspension.

Thanks for your response on the step rib pattern - very helpful!

The truck currently has an inline 6 cylinder - not sure on the size.
