1990 Ranger tailgate??

1990 Ranger tailgate??
How do you access the latch components on this tailgate. It doesn't have the standard access panel that later model truck seem to all have. We want to add the pop/lock tailgate lock and all the "direction videos" i find only show the access panel tailgates.

Hi buzzzmea,
I assume the tailgate on your 1990 is the same as my 92. There are three bigger screws on the front front of the tailgate that hold the handle in place. Remove the three screws and pull the handle down far enough to undo the rod clips and take the handle the rest of the way out.
