Hola Speakerfritz... sorry to hear about your troubles. I have learned that some new things are just not what they are advertised to be, and new things don't always work out as planned. Remember the Chevy Corvair?... The old tried and true VW worked out a lot better, and plenty are still running and leaking oil, like a Harley.. Good luck with it.,
My truck will be two years old in a couple weeks, rolled over 131k yesterday. I rack up about 5500 miles a month, mostly with just a bed full of tools. Lifetime fuel economy is just shy of 18.
Ordered new 2010 F-150 with 546,200 kms, always used 100% synthetic oil, doesn't use oil, never changed a belt and still trucking along. Mind you, I'm on my third differential.
wow 3rd diff.....my 2010 xl 4.6 RWD with 9.75 posi diff 355 ratio @ 530000 km....Still going strong.........I did replace the diff @ 300,000 something but only because the clutches for posi were worn out??
Ya, the new style axle housings with differential lock couldn't handle the normal weight I always carried, 8000 lbs plus, not including trailer weight. Always snapped clean off where the tube would enter the "pumpkin" on drivers-side. Before you say, should've got the 250 or 350, I preferred the interiors and ride of the 150's. Never had a problem with my prior 150's, as those were stronger axle housings. When I installed the 3rd diff, I installed a weld-in reinforcement bridge from Artec, place they sell stuff for rock climber vehicles. Haven't had a problem since.
