Hello
I bought a used Ford E locker differential to use in my 2003 sterling 10.5 rear axle. The guy said that the thrust washer was bad. I did find pieces of this washer inside. I’m going to thoroughly cleaned it up but does anyone know the part number or where I can get this washer shown in the picture? Good disassembled elocker pic showing the thrust washer I need.
btw here two pics of the used e locker I bought. You can see that I don’t have the thrust washer and there is some damage to the surfaces.
Thanks
That’s ok. I found what I need is a wave spring. It keeps the elocker disengaged. When voltage applied the solenoids push against the force of the spring and engage these 2 pieces.
This locker appears to be made by GKN automotive. They may be owned by Spicer Dana.
jeep jk owners have had a similar issue with their elockers where this spring wears out.
I found this number online. Went to Ford dealership and he confirmed it with the attached exploded view. I have to believe others have had this washer destroyed in their elockers so posting it here for their benefit. I am going to clean up the mating surfaces and try it with the new washer installed and see how it works.
I ordered a couple of those washers and measured them to be about .028” thick.
i had a local machine shop clean up those mating surfaces. .005” off the gear side and .023” off the other side. I then assembled the complete carrier.
anyone know the torque spec for the 9 bolts holding this together?
When I tried to check ring gear on carrier. I see it doesn’t seat down all the way. There is a lip on the carrier preventing it. Is this where the tone ring from my existing carrier assembly would go?
