elt - did you get this hung yet? We had to take a piece of wood and mount on the backside of the headliner in my father's 98 Ranger. There just wasn't any good places to put screws through. I don't know the intereior on a 2000 F150, but you might look at adding something behind the headliner and using JB Weld or somehting to hold it to th roof, then screw the holder to it...

The roof line is clean, No plastic moldings @ all. The head liner is a one piece, molded, styrofoam backing with an air pocket between it and the roof.

The Roof Mount Center Consol is actually held up by plastic clips, No screws found anywhere. If I was able to mount it @ the back of the Roof Mount Center Consol, it would then cover my cab light leaving me in the dark

I'm begining to think I may have to drill through the head liner into the roof support to mount this thing.

Ford® is a great truck but NOT a better idea
In my 2000 work truck I didnt have the overhead console but I did have the hook that holds a clothes hanger. When I put my hat holder in all I had to do was drill out the center of the mount a little bit to fit over the plastic piece that goes into the headliner on that clip. The hanger holder is secured with a screw that holds pretty good. Been in there 4 years now with no problems.
If I didnt describe very well let me know and I will try to be more clear.

I never thought about drilling out the mount. I did look @ the clothes hanger and thought that wouldn't work, That is until your Idea of drilling out the mount hole to fit. Thanks. I'll let you know.

Learn something new every day and I just learned something. The luck runs out of a cowboy's hat.

Though I don't own any cowboy hats, I have plenty of "ball caps". if I'm not wearing it, it's up on the dashboard or lying in the seat. I do understand the concept ... I've known some state troopers with their "smokey the bear" hats - take it off and toss it on the seat and the brim gets all bent up. put it in a holder and the brim stays straight and it don't get messed up.

a hat holder is exactly that. it holds you had upside down and out of the way when not needed. it protects the hat from being destroyed or bent out of shape when not in use. i thought that was prety funny (not to be an a$$) how you asked that question.

I have a cowboy hat hanger I took out of a 91 F250 it had self tapping screw holding it in. I am gonna be putting it in my 88 F150 soon as I get the chance. My cowboy hat is to big to go on the dash or sit in the seat with 3 people in the truck and hard to wear in the truck so thats why I am putting it in. The only truck I can wear my cowboy hat in is our 02 F250 and 97 Expedition.

Remember to always put it in the hat rack and as mom use to say if it not getting wet take it off ball caps or cowboy hat.
