Customer Access Wire Woes
My solution to adding bluetooth to my cars in the past was using a bluetooth to AUX adapter that plugs into a USB port.
I was running it off the cig port 12v until I learned that they are hot all the time and were keeping it on. I ordered a generic 12v to 5v USB adapter that I have used in the past. I planned on tapping into the BLUE/WHITE customer access wire under the dash near the hood release. However I am getting wierd electrical issues from it. When it has no load I am getting 12v, however when I solder/blade connector/alligator clip the little adapter on it drops to 7v and doesnt power on the device. I have absolutely no idea where to even start tracing the wire back to for solving this. Finding wiring PDFs for these trucks seems impossible compared to the ease of which they get shared in the Volvo community where I am more active.
In the mean time I have my adapter running to Upfitter switch 4 which is also a switched power supply.

This is all I could find, something with a relay inside the BCM? Kind of annoying if you ask me, the wire didnt even have the rubber cover removed from the factory yet so Im not sure how it got messed up in this way.
Any suggestions are much appreciated! Its not a major issue but annoying none the less!
