Problem with door unlock fob
Hi again. Haven't been here in a while because I haven't really had many problems with my Ranger. This one creeped up the other day and I'm wondering if anyone on here could help me out:
The other day, my door lock/unlock fob suddenly stopped working. I figured it was the little battery, so I replaced it and went about re-programming the fob so the truck would recognize it. I did the usual key 'off' to key 'run' sequence 8 times. On the 8th time, the locks cycle, indicating it is in program mode. When I push any button on the remote, the door locks lock, indicating that the truck does in fact recognize the fob. When I turn the key off again, the locks cycle, indicating the end of program mode. But then when I push any button on the fob, nothing happens, its like it's dead or the truck doesn't recognize it.
I thought maybe the fob was bad - it is pretty old, so I ordered 2 more on Amazon. They arrived and I went through the above sequence with them, exact same result.
Any idea where to start with this one? Is there some sort of antenna that receives a signal from the fob? Why would it apparently recognize the fob in program mode, but not after that?
