Upgrade:Maintenance questions

Gathering parts to do some Maintenance on ol girl. Parts list includes:
New radiator with new hoses
New heater hoses
PSC Steering gear (new unit with larger shaft)
New Edelman Elite PS Pump with all new hoses
6.0 tranny cooler
trans bypass delete
Oil cooler
Melling M208 LPOP
Harmonic Balancer

Question is on Harmonic Balancer. Does it come with wear ring already installed on OEM HB or is that something else I need?

2003 F250 7.3 CCSB
245k miles

I'd skip the trans bypass delete. The bypass is a good feature to have if the trans cooler gets clogged.

Get the Gates 22433 upper radiator hose. Goes around the serpentine belt so you don't have to pull the hose when removing the belt.

No help on your main question sorry

Since you will be in there, consider deglazing the water pump pulley. @Kwikkordead might have some pictures for you to have a reference on. You look to be going into the heat exchanger pack, do you have any plans to straighten the fins with a comb or clean them with coil cleaner?

I do not know about the harmonic balancer, but if you are purchasing from a reputable place like Riffraff, then they will be able to answer the question for you.

my mechanic did just that when he installed the new water pump for me.
I had bought a new pulley and he asked me why?

he said, " I always wire wheel the water pump pulleys and in 25 years of changing them out, not one of them has ever failed to work right "

.

Sous I will be putting new radiator and tranny cooler in. Plans on condenser is just blowing compressed air opposite direction to get 21 yrs of junk out. Currently the A/C cools great. If that’s what u we’re talking about.

Can say I have never heard of deglazing a pulley before. I see a wire wheel is used. Guess I need to do a google search.

you can use a Cut Off disc also, just be easy with it

Melling oil pump will have a new seal
new HB will have a new seal seat so no wear ring needed

dont forget the dap of silicone on the key way!!

Just did this last year. Had two new Dorman HB fail on rubber separation and went with fluid damper after.
