Hello all, I am in search of a replacement fuel pump for the auxiliary tank of my 1985 ford Lindy RV on an E350 chassis with the 460 v8. I bought a new fuel pump assembly not realizing that the auxiliary tank is shallower than the main tank, so it doesn’t fit (see photos). Since the only real issue was the strainer, I tried swapping it over and basically ruined the new assembly I bought (sigh). So now I’m back to square 1. The existing float and assembly are fine, but the strainer has deteriorated away.
Can anyone help provide part numbers or guidance on one of the following?
-Shorter fuel pump assembly
-clamp on strainer option
-part number for fuel pump only (assuming I can strap a new fuel pump/strainer onto the existing assembly)
you should be able to modify the new pump set up. Move the assembly UP on the pipe if you can. May involve cutting the pipe or just moving over to the old one. As to the strainer there are some 'socks' available that should meet your requirements. My 90 dodge caravan had one or again one of the glass filters may be right and fit.
