I’ve been reading that older Ford Auto Locking Hubs aren’t reliable with age. Problem – they don’t engage when you need them and other times don’t disengage. My truck has automatic hubs.
When I drive above 60 MPH on the highway the truck vibrates and there is a droning sound (not the engine). I’ve also noticed that when I turn tight, it feels like the truck is in 4 wheel or semi-4 wheel. Could one of my front hubs be locked? If so, any good way to tell?
My problem may be unbalanced wheels / rough tires, but I thought I'd get everyone’s opinion.
have someone stand in front of you and move the truck, if they can see one or both of the axleshafts spinning, that's your problem, if they aren't moving, it's not.
