I have seen the good and I have seen the bad of both worlds. Lowered vehicles have their place, mainly in the city where roads are maintaned. Even though my karma will bite me in the ****, I can't help but laugh at the people who get their distributors wet on their little Honda's that ride maybe 1/2 off the ground during our rainy days. Here in the desert, most directions include "turn off the paved road". And the flooding we have during our very few rain storms is horrific. We have some roads (paved main thoroughfares mind you) I won't even take my stock height ranger through. I obviously prefer lifted. But were I to live in the city, miles away from any fun dirt roads, I am pretty sure my truck would be laying frame with nitro fast bags. It is all a matter of preference, but preference is partly determined by location.

P.S. Dono, that happens to be one very sweet looking ride you have. Wish I had more income than just being the pool man so I could start modding my truck. (Opposite direction though. )

Thank you. You are correct about application and location being a deciding factor in a truck mod. I spent some time in Arizona and my buds there were in the desert every weekend, if I lived there I would be with them in my lifted truck. Re "just being a pool man", I had a friend in Florida that started a pool maintenance business with no capital and no equipment - he actually used his customer's equipment at first and he built a good business. Hang in there, and best of luck.

I don't have my Ranger anymore but have been thinking of getting another one. Anyway: My 88 I lowered. I bought 3" drop rear lifts and 2" drop coils. It only stayed this way for a month or so because the rear sat lower than the front, even after I stupidly cut the a coil off the springs. I put the stock leafs on the back and as those coils started to settle down in the front that truck sat with a mean tilt. I loved that little truck to death. One day I'll have to scan some pics of it (RIP).

Personally I think that if you are not going to use a 2wd for work there's no reason not to lower it. And I love lifted 4wd. Honestly I think it is a matter of preference.

I have a 91 STX with 8.5" of lift and 33" tires and I love it but it is all in what you like and what you need. I built mine to off road not to look pertty. But like I said to each there own.

there is no such thing as too low. I like lifted trucks, and when i buy another ranger its going up but i lover lowerd trucks. Im down 5 in front and 7 in back right now and if im lucky the frame will be on the ground in the spring.

I have a red 97 Ford Ranger that is lowered 3 inches in the front, 4 in the back from Belltec. It has 17inch Cobra R rims, billet grill, and roll pan that was molded into the rear(no seams). The truck is a 2WD and a 4cylinder 5 speed. The main reason to lowering the truck was to improve handling. The truck had axle hop when hitting bumps or around corners. The lowering kit improved handling alot. 97Rangerspl

97rangerspl, your truck sounds incredibly good looking. I'd love to see it if you could post some pictures in your user gallery.
