Correct transmission fluid
2000 Ford F-450 Super Duty
10 Cyl 6.8L; 5-Speed Manual Transmission
Read several articles on which is the correct transmission fluid to use. Owners manual & transmission sticker states Mercon syn and now since mercon has changed to mercon V to use that. A local mechanic said to use any full syn and if the trans chatters to use mobile 1 LV. All the reading Ive seen states to use only motocraft mercon V. What do I use? I do have some dextrose III/mercon in my shop thats available. Looking for some advice. Thanks

Mercon LV replaced all applications requiring Mercon SP, not Mercon V. I wouldn't use LV ( Low Viscosity) in any application that doesn't specifically call for a low viscosity fluid.
Mercon V is still available from many different vendors.
