just swapped the trannys in my 67 CS. Out went the FXM,COM? whatever it came with and replaced it with a C6 out of a truck with the bolt on yoke to mate up with my 2 piece driveshaft .The problem is it came without a speedo drive and I'm playing hell trying to find the right type. Any ideas?........Bob
- Ford drive gears are machined into the output shaft on C3/C4/C5/C6 & AOD transmissions. You may need to remove your tailhousing to determine how many drive teeth your transmission has.
Do you mean you need a speedometer cable? What drives the speedometer, the drive gear, would be inside the transmission, as described above. The cable holds the driven gear on the end, which fits into the transmission.
I need the part that is between the speedo cable which is outside the tranny and holds the speedo gear that mates to the drive teeth that are cut into the output shaft that is inside the tranny and connected to the bolt on yoke that came on F250 trucks with the two piece driveshafts. I've looked for any drawings that show this part but cannot find any....Bob
Yes. 17322 is speedo driven gear and 17269 is speedo bearing or sleeve maybe but when I go to find 17322 driven gear there are many variations on the web but none say for a C6; there are listings for manual trans like t-18 or t-19 but none I found for a C6. Plus 17269 looks to thread into housing where mine uses a V shaped clamp with a bolt....Bob

This should NOT be this difficult
Restoring beaters is the BOMB & venders parts are flying off their shelves !!!!!!!!!! C6's parts r everywhere ,
I would get all the numbers I could find off the C6 , find out the year it was made . Call or google and find the part or a vender that sells them
Myself actually have a speedometer cable problem . I found a universal cable that is much less than a FORD
, plus I need a longer one because I have long tube headers .........
