Mine is a mess at the moment. Kind of a staging area for a number of projects.

The only way to actually WORK in a garage or shop is the "a place for everything and everything in it's place" approach.

Mine is fairly neat and I try to make places for stuff. I move things I am not using out and have a couple of storage buildings and a basement in an old house full of shelves for that "too good to throw" type of thing. This site would pick up a lot of traffic if it had an easy way to post picks similar to the Hobart site.

My barn is a truly scary place.

Most often have to move carpentry supplies and tools aside to make room for vehicular surgery. That's after I toss aside the electrical supplies that rest on top of the plumbing supplies.

Did I mention I need more shelves? Did I mention I need more barns?

And to think I used to live on a boat...

Not that it has to do with cleanliness but.
One of natures laws is as follows---The amont of stuff we have will be in direct proportion to the amount of space we don't.

Hhhmmmmm where do I start. Well like Oldbones I have numerous trades residing in my garage: Electrician, plumber, carpenter, lawn maintenace, small engine repair, etc...... it is also a staging area for evertything. If I could remove all the carpentry stuff: Table saw, radial arm saw, joiner, router table plus a good cabinet full of sanders, saws, and supplies I would pick up a ot of space. The two crafts really don't mix well and I wish I had a separate shop for woodworking. I can't stand to through perfectly good stuff away so it piles up with no place to put it. I need more space.

Do not allow empty space to show your wife WILL fill it for you!!!!!

ANOTHER WIFE STORY ...

I'm a pretty tidy person around the house, at work and in my truck. However, I had little organized piles of things around my 2-car garage and I knew where everything was at. My wife kept getting on my #@%$@%$ about cleaning it up, but next weekend always sounded like a better time for me.

One Saturday I went out of town and when I got back, the garage was spotless. My wife cleaned the %$#%$# out of it.

I know she didn't throw anything away, but now I can't find a %$#%$# thing. I blew my chance before, and let me tell you brother ... I have spent more time looking for things than I would have spent putting things away.

Live and learn I guess ...

WOMEN ... CAN'T LIVE WITH EM ... CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT EM ! However, my truck is the one thing that I can drive every day (sometimes several times a day) and never get tired of it.

Good advice. Always check the garbage can. I need to do that more often.

I try to keep it clean but it's hard to when you have as many projects as i've got going. Just cleaned it out a couple of days ago to hang some of those 400 watt bay lights and now i've already got 5 vehicles back in it. Will it ever end? I hope not!!
