6.7 Surging during regen

I have a completely stock 2017 F350 that is approaching 300k miles and has developed an issue. During regen the engine power surges rapidly. If above 70mph you hardly notice but at lower speeds it is very apparent. To the point of almost bucking/stalling. The boost gauge even bounces up and down. If l apply more throttle the surge goes away. So l think it is not a fuel supply problem. ie dirty filters. They are new, actually.

There are no check engine lights and it runs normally when not in regen. I do have Forscan so can monitor things. Has anyone experienced this or have any insight? The truck has been almost flawless to this point.

I'm a little surprised that the money light isn't on, scan it and see if it has any codes. If something is wrong should have a code..

It has never been back to the dealer.

If it were mine, I'd do the basics and check the MAP sensor to make sure it isn't clogged, and the EGR for the same (just to rule out anything obvious). If it's been some time since the MAP sensor was cleaned (or replaced, with 300K on the dial) they can cause some weird behavior on the intake side with the turbo from what I've read (but haven't ever experienced myself). If the EGR is constricted that could effect the regen cycle on the exhaust side of the equation, perhaps.

Just a WAG, but I've seen pictures of both being completely clogged with much fewer miles than your 300K.

300 K and never back to the dealer. With full emission no less. I'm impressed.

I cleaned the throttle valve upstream of the EGR injection point and carefully chipped out some of the carbon downstream. The problem seems to be gone.
