Note: it WILL void all of your drivetrain warrenty.. maybe not shocks, springs and that stuff though.

Explorer express has a kit coming out based on the 4th generation eaton M62
susposed to be around 70-80 RWHP.(I forget how much more torque) Your truck stock is about 165RWHP

RWHP=real wheel horsepower (like measured on a dyno)

thanks rand.... yeah i am aware of the rwhp.... thanks tho... ive been looking for good mods that will make a difference without too much fuss.... such as looking at the headers and cat size.... it is actually big... but then after the cat they shrink the pipe to tiny damn thing..... im looking into trying to find a great sounding cat-back...... i know i cant gain a lot.... but there is definetly alot being held back by the size change at the cat.... and also wondering if they make a gen2 k&n fuel injection intake kit.... the one with the heat shield and the mass flow sensor and all stock hose and sensor spots..... how about a throttle body spacer? i hear good things about them too! get back to me if u get a minute..... thanks again..

throttle body spacers are junk (on rangers anyway) catback... gibson is nice.
FIPK ..not worth it just remove the intake silencer on the stock airbox.
JBA Headers are nice..
STOCK MAF is big enough unless supercharged.

so your sayin that the exhaust is a good idea.... and a chip is a good idea.... ( i was thinking about a chip after i wrote that last reply... figured u would mention it so i didnt bother fixing it) .... but u dont like the intake?
where is the intake silencer located.... i know that that rubber intake hose must be restricting the flow.... its just so small... i do have a stock k&n replacement filter instead of a stock filter.... i hate the stock cottons... i originally bought the filter replacement when i had my 99 ranger... and just swapped it out at the dealer before i left the lot.... how much gain are we talking with the exhaust and intake mods? is there a big diff between just taking out the silencer vs. a whole intake??
i do like the chip idea..... my truck is 5spd standard so i dont know what chip would be best... i know alot of them like to mess with the auto tranny stuff.... i dont need it for the tranny.
thanks again.... hope to hear back from you.

mine is bigger than the maf....
yes catback is a good idea.. stick with something stainless if you live with road salt or by the ocean.

The silencer is on teh front of the airbox..
http://www.generation-edge.com/forums/airbox.asp

Note I didnt cut the airbox sides there is no need to as the opening after you remove the silencer is bigger than the MAF.
Also cutting the sides makes the airfilter get dirty about 2-3times as fast

so the silencer is that oversized rubber grommet? hmmm..... almost seems to easy to do... can u take it off without taking out the airbox? .... . heres a trip for u...... today i lost my clutch for the second time since i bought the truck..... just barely 9,500 miles on it.... it just got fixed for the same problem less than a month ago... friggin thing.... i dont drive it hard. or screw with the clutch.... i even double clutch sometimes to keep it extra smooth.... .... all of a sudden i press in the pedal and it goes to the floor with like an inch of pressure..... the pressure plate/ slave cyl is locked half engaged and it gets locked in or out of gears. i have to start it in gear just to move and shut it off to put it in first at stop lights... i managed to float shift it to safety so the dealer can warrenty it for the second time.... this is pissing me off.... i dont want an automatic... the only nice thing about loosing my truck till next week is that they gave me a temp 02-03 explorer.... completely loaded..... wow... im inpressed at what they have done with them.... not half bad at all..... smooth... powerful... the only pisser is that it has that auto 4x4.... you cannot peel out at all.... not a chance in holy helll.... it just locks in the front axle and u take off like a bat out of hell with that 5spd auto..... still impressive thougth. thanks for the tipp.... if i ever get my ranger back i will take out that silencer.... is it noticably more powerfull? hope so... anywho... ttyl

Yes gibson makes one .. I have one.
Read the link I posted it expains the airbox mod and how to remove it.
A shot of wd-40 on the bottom holes and it comes out real easy.

The silencer is this round plastic thing that comes out from the front of the box.
There is also some plastic attached by the headlight.

If they make one for the ranger 4.0SOHC, will they make one for the Explorer (2000 Model)? I am anxious to get more power out of my truck as well, other than exhaust and high flow cat upgrades.

its for the explorer or ranger 4.0sohc engine.
If you had a 5.0 explorer there was already one out for that.
