I was putting new dovetail striker on my 49 F1 last night and dropped the new nut behind the door
frame. When I pulled the last pice of interior trim, I found this paper. It is a full paper rolled up with a December 1948 Ford Chicago insert. It’s in pretty bad shape, but it had to be left there on the assembly line I guess. Does anyone know the history of a Ford paper?
What is the serial number of your truck? The database folks here can probably figure out exactly when somebody was reading that paper. As to when the mouse chewed it up for bedding.....anyone's guess.
That is very cool and amazing someone on the assembly line would stick a time capsule in the corner like that. That's an even better score than the original registration and insurance cards I found that blew out of my header panel above the windshield the original owner stuffed in.
As for online decoder, it's right here. In addition to the serial number, there should be a series of numbers and letters hand stamped into the firewall, near the cowl seam. That is your production code that will identify the color code, assembly plant and build date. If you can find that and post it here, clear pictures are best, we can share those details about your truck. It may look something like this...

I don’t see anything there. Could it be somewhere else on a ‘49?

Upper center cowl/firewall is probably the most common spot to find the stamping. They are sometimes found on the firewall near the main wiring pass through seal, or more central on the firewall. We've also seen them close to the patent plate. It's also possible, from the look of your picture, that a PO did some body work there and smoothed the area before painting. Your numbers may be there under a quarter inch of bondo.
