Does anyone know the height (where you sit) of the factory seat above the floor? Since the floor is not flat in some places, does anyone have the measurement taken at the floor, by the doors?
That is just what I need to match a modern seat to the truck.
I am going to try to find a 2018 Explorer Limited 2nd row 60/40 seat that has the middle section that folds down as an arm rest and also has cup holders in it.
They are leather and look real nice. They are also about the right width to center the driver with the instrument cluster and the steering column.
I am trying to keep the truck as much Ford products as possible.
For taller people i would suggest having the top of the bottom cushion at about 17" from the raised part of the floor in front of the seat mounting bolts.
It worked very well for me and i am 6'3 if you want an older seat in the truck get one out of a first gen ranger so it fits and is adjustable.
Whatever you do make sure to reinforce the area that you drill new mounting holes into so in a wreck the seat dosent tear out from the floor.
To be very clear this is not the correct way to do this, it is just what i found to work well for me and thought you might benefit from this info.

Thanks for your input with your expertise.
I have made very strong mounting assemblies out of 2x3x1/4 angle iron. I made the mounts extremely strong because I am using them for the seats and the seat belts. Now I just need to find the seats that I am looking for, so I can finish mounting them into the truck.
I did not have any seats in the truck, so I need all the information that I can get.
Ok good but did you reinforce the floor itself near the bolt holes.
A strong mount bracket is good but it does nothing if it tears out of the floor in a wreck
what i did is use 4 inch wide washers top and bottom on my seat bolts going into the floor.

I used the original four holes in the back and the two in the front. I then welded a bracket to the square shaped sheet metal in the back to add rigidity to the back angle iron.
I also cut a 9 inch piece of 2 inch channel to add 2 more mounting holes to the front angle iron. The 2 inch channel gives support under the floor for the front contoured angle iron.
