Does anyone know about some really good drilled/slotted rotors for '00 X? Same thing for after market calipers?

drilled and/or slotted rotors?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Jul-02 AT 03:02 PM (EST)]I'm not an Excursion guy but you might check on Raybetos BRUTESTOP rotors and pads (not sure if they make BRUTESTOP calipers). I haven't used them, but when I replace my rotors, I just might because when I put on the 31's, I noticed brakes not near as good do to the extra rolling weight.

Here is the link:

By the way, some other good pads (in my opinion, and as recommended by an old mechanic friend) are the Raybestos Quiet Stops and the Wagner ThermoQuiets (link below).

Sorry about posting in here, but I was in here posting that "Excursion Discontinued in 2 Years" news.

Applied Rotor Technology - Slotted Rotors, better pads both cryo treated.

Carolina Clutch and Brake - Better rotors and pads.

Another company just came out with a front brake kit (Rotors, pads and calipers) The name escapes me right now. I'll look it up and post it if no one else does first.

I don't have any personal experience with these, but I used to own a Yukon. When I had it, the people on that message board all swore by them though. Must have been a couple dozen guys with these brakes on their trucks. Might be worth a call.

Check this out

www.newtech-ibs.com

Those are serious brakes. A real improvement.
Just a lil story. They have a Navigator with newtech brakes, they compared brake fade vs the stockers. Stock brakes wouldn't even hold up a complete braking from top speed to 0 (fully loaded), when the Newtech handled more than 3 in a row. Need I say more?

Why are you looking for drilled or slotted rotors? Are you looking for rotors that resist warping or better stopping performance?

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Aug-02 AT 11:02 PM (EST)]Better braking - looking for good set of perf. rotors and perf. calipers. Check the link www.newtech-ibs.com. I'm not sure if that was the intended link, 'cause those are some new, high tech rotor/caliper setups. Very cool, just wondering about availability and price. The link you posted Zorro.

drilled and/or slotted rotors?

The Brake Man, Inc. (www.brakeman.com) 805-987-7867 just came out with some 14" cast-iron, slotted rotors and different calipers specifically for the Excursion.

Thier website didn't show anything spoecific when I went to it so maybe a phone call is in order.

I found this info in the latest edition of Truck Trend. July/August page 69

They are indeed very trick (and a real change for the better when compared to everything available)...but the company is just too new right now ( a couple years old) to take care of small volume sales. They currently have a contract with Nova Bus (there's an official press release if you want to look for it in a couple sites). They're concentrating on the "real" big truck market, because that's where the improvement is the most welcome by the industry (can't tell you with who they are in touch though...but we're talking hundred of thousands of trucks). As far as cars/suvs, the first on sale vehicles to come equipped with these brakes will most likely be Saleen. They actually have already equipped an S7 (if you live near Willow Springs, you might have seen it...), but the car had to be brought out too soon (because it was already involved in racing). But keep a eye on it for the following years.
So all this (why did I type so much?) to say that they're not available yet (thus no pricing). They just have a couple prototypes (an everyday driver Navigator with 40k miles on, a full size tractor truck, and several cars -2 french sedans and a 911 turbo) on which they are developing the brake.

Hey, I could talk for hours about it...so I'll just stop there, but if you have any questions, go ahead...I'll be glad to answer (or at least try)
