i have a 1984 f150 with factory ac that i’m looking to get working soon. the previous owner unhooked the control, i was able to find the ac/heater cable and hook it back up but i haven’t been able to find the temperature control cable so i guess he took it out. where can i get one online and where does it hook up to?
If you have factory AC it only has 1 cable and IIRC it is the temperature control.
The other lever on the dash control works the vent doors and is controlled by vacuum.

With factory AC there is only 1 place it can hook up to. That picture is behind the glove box right?
I do believe it dose move a door to block the heater core off from letting heat come thru, that is how it controls the temp.
Are you sure you have factory AC?
The non-AC options I know 1 had 2 cables that worked the vent doors & temperature.
The Extra air? I dont know if it had 2 cables but pretty sure the dash had vents like the AC trucks did.
There should also be 2 vacuum motors on the AC HVAC box.
1 inside the cab to the left side of the box .
The other is in the engine bay by the hood hinge.
It's too hot to go look at my truck right now but what I said above should be right.

yes that picture is behind the glove box and yes i believe it is factory air. i’ll try unhooking that cable from the vent door arm and if it still works i’ll hook it up to the temperature control arm. i still need to get a new compressor but i wanted to get this fixed first
Please post a picture of the control panel. That will quickly tell us if you have factory AC or not. I want to make sure we're all talking about the same components.
