I have about 800 miles in my ‘23 Lariat Ult 6.7. I really like the truck a lot so far. I started my commute home a couple of days ago in the 105 degree San Antonio heat (stop and go traffic for most of it) and I noticed that the truck was really loud. I turned down everything else that was making sound to listen. It sounded like a fan was going as fast as it could go-very, very loud. Up until now, this truck has been one of the most quiet vehicles I’ve owned. Anyway, it seemed to me that the RPM’s were higher than normal, especially when coming to a stop. It lasted the entire 30 minute drive home. It has not done it since (2 days). I went ahead and made an appointment at the dealer for next Friday. This is my first diesel and I am NOT a mechanic, but I have to tow a trailer to move my daughter to Houston in 2 weeks so I’d like to make sure it’s ok. Any ideas? Thanks for any input.
BTW, there were not unusually high temps when this was happening.
There are various things that the computer looks at besides the actual temperature of the radiator. Things like transmission, temperature, fuel temperature, intercooler, temperature, etc.
A/C makes the pcm engage the fan at a higher percentage, that is mostly what is making it pull so hard in this heat.
Mine does exactly the same thing, totally normal.
Get out on the highway for a high speed stretch and it will back off.

Ltngdrvr, thanks for the insight/information. My (black) truck was sitting in the sun for several hours, so I had the A/C on max, which I haven’t needed to do until that day.

Black color won't make any difference, mine is silver, goes by the ambient temp readings and the a/c settings.
Waste of time taking it to the dealer, I'd cancel the appointment.
My new 23 does exact same thing. Normal. Did it today on cold start but it was 95 out and I had turned on the AC before I put it in drive. And yep towing you will hear the jet engine!!! But it cools everything off nicely
I don't have a 2023, but a 2022. Last summer I had the same thing happen. Same temp same town. Seems like a little quieter this year (after 10K miles) but still loud. Another reason I will be glad to see fall.
many of us have discovered that when towing up a long grade, it sounds like a fighter jet flew over when it kicks on!!
When i have 32k behind the f450 moving theough town, it sounds like a jet engine taking off for flight! People walking around actually turn around and look. If you didnt know any better youd think it would blow up. Especially when it downshifts and hot the fan makes it sound like it's severely Over revving.
