Hello All, recently acquired, new-to-me '99 F450 with the 7.3 powerstroke.
I've put less than 250 miles on it, was running fine and then all of sudden began running extremely rough. From what I've found here the evidence points to a miserable under valve cover harness 9 pin connector (also, the outfit I bought the truck from mentioned they had to "fix the right side 9 pin connector so that it was tight").
So, have my multi-meter here and about to head out and dig in, perhaps left side first--if I can assume the previous owners fixed the right side adequately.
While I'm here, the truck was built in April '99 and I've seen mention of "early vs late" '99s. Safe to assume being built in April makes it an "early"?
I was wrong, the passenger side 9 pin under valve cover connector had come loose again. The dealer I bought it from evidently merely pushed the connector back in without addressing the real problem--tightening the connector so it would not come loose. I did the $.25 fix found here on FTE and it's been running like a champ. I suppose I should do the same to the driver's side for peace of mind.
