Hi - I just added a 1966 F-100 to my garage. I was the lucky winner on BAT. It has this lever on the side of the steering wheel that says Warner on it. Is this a hand brake? Is it for towing? I wonder if it would do anything. The truck also has a push button above the ignition. Is this standard or something that was added? Mostly the truck is unmolested but rather rusty. Even the hand brake is rusty. It still has its smog pump attached and it runs great but I do not know how many miles it has.
The push button should be for the windshield squirters. Often, they’re non-functioning. Mine were, I just bought a new pump, some hose, the bag that holds the actual fluid, and cleaned out the squirters and it works fine.
I have seen, though, people rig up a starter push button in that hole when their ignition switch goes kaput.
Your truck would not have had a smog pump, from new, too old a truck for that.
Don’t know what that lever is. Do you mean it is on the side of the steering column instead of the steering wheel? Does it say ‘Warn’, or Warner? Warn did make transmission overdrive units, among other things, about which I know zilch. But someone here does. Please post photos of that lever. The only other thing I can think of is if someone’s turn signal switxh failed and they added an external type that attaches to the outside of the column. Good luck and welcome to FTE.

Yes, The Warner brake is on the steering column, sorry. My truck was originally sold in California, so the NOx control device would have been required. It has a sticker on the windshield. I will post some photos.
That is not how the original motor is equipped, it must be a later motor. My 66 w/352 was built in San Jose. Never seen it on any other 66, California models or otherwise.
The engine in that photo has the correct 66 tag and there is a NOx Califonia emissions decal on the truck's window. The truck also has the correct door tag. I think everyone else has removed them. I have a 1966 Mustang that had it removed but they rebuilt the engine on my Mustang before I purchased it, so it would make sense that they removed the smog system.
The CA F100 had Thermactor, the F250 had a closed pcv system. There might have been exceptions.
My '66 was built with the Thermactor system. I regret removing it, but I got a nice price from a guy restoring a Ranger that had lost its smog stuff.
Eric
The Thermactor system was only required on 1966 F100 and F100 4x4 destined for sale in California, optional everywhere else. Also used on the Econoline E100. The Salesmans Facts Book calls it the Exhaust Emission Control System or EECS
The Boss has that system on Rainbow Ranger that he is restoring.

The F100 could have both systems. The F250 just the crankcase system not the exhaust system. One of the reasons I sway toward F250s.
