I live in far north Kansas and we purchased a used 2003 V6 AWD Escape for my daughter 5-6 years ago. We purchased it locally and I replaced the alternator when that failed at 98K. I replaced the front brake hoses at about that time also. Shortly after that, she moved to Phoenix. Every time she has her oil change performed, some tech comments about the rust that it has, as vehicles from Phoenix don't experience that. She very well can afford a new vehicle, but she as frugal as they come and it will take a major repair (like another alternator failure) before she gives up on it. About a week ago, she quizzed me about what would make a "rumbling" noise when she turns her AC on. I told her that it could be quite a few things and unfortunately I wasn't there to troubleshoot it. Turns out that it was the electrical cooling fan that was coming apart and was making a horrific noise. $500 later, it sounds good again. I guess I should call that vehicle "The Phoenix", as it again has rose from the ashes.
had a 2001 great suv, 2010 ex has it great . picking up a 2017 in a few weeks from my mom. reading a lot of trans issues on the 2017 torque converters going out 80 to 100,000 miles. hope its a few and not the majority. my 01 had 200,000 miles 2 coil packs, 3 wheel bearings, sway bar end links and iac valve . the 2010 did the preventive ac drier replace, sway bar ,axle seal and bearing. and 2 purge valves.
After 20 years of Escape ownership (2 vehicles, '02 and '12), it's time to go.
I'll be moving over to the Maverick group!
The Mavericks are built using a modified floor pan of the modern Escape platform, same with the Bronco Sports.
A LOT of interchangeability there.
Point is, your still in an Escape, just one with an addiction to cosmetic surgery.
