I pulled the passenger side closest to the front bumper injector. CCLB with 260k miles, likely original injectors. Looks like some built up heat over time maybe. Is this brown spots normal for older injectors? Truck has been running fine but I pulled the injector because I needed access to the area. I got my compression test connect stuck on the glow plug adapter. See pics of injector, any concerns?
while I don't recommend it I have reused injector orings/washers for a short period with no noticeable damage done afterwards
take that info as you wish
That is a touchy subject. Many stand by the idea that any injector removed gets new orings when reinstalled. Could you do it? Maybe. There are so many variables it is hard to give a solid answer either way. If it were mine, I had a plan to replace them soon, and I wasn’t driving it much I would probably do it. If you are planning a 1000 mile trip, I wouldn’t chance it.
I've reused O rings and washers, havet had one failed, but yours are still the factory O rings that left the assembly line 25± years ago, might as well change them out.
Let's say you re-used the O rings and it started drinking oil.. you'd be cheaper off in the long run replacing the o-rings versus adding oil regularly for 6 months.
