Ghost in the Machine?????
Simply put "HELP",
Have 1994 Explorer Sport (4.0 OHV) that the AC compresser engages any time the climet controls (heater / AC controls) are on. Yes,I know this is normal when the AC is on "but not the heater".
The compresser will engage intermitanly for 5-8 seconds at a time when the controls are set for HEAT. The AC light on the controls isn't light (unless I push in the **** to turn on the AC). If I let the blower fan on and shut off the ignision , it will blow for a few seconds then turn off.
Any segestions??? Thanks in advance.

I would not be too nervouse as long as the ac blows cold in the summer.....it will also prevent the windows inside from fogging up, in the winter the refregerant pressure drops in the cold and it cycles on and off a lot more frequent than it would in the summer, the heat will still blow warm....it just take the moisture out

OH and try differant setting in the air direction, ie floor or panel and floor and see it it still does that...also does the ac compressor cycle on and off even if the fan speed is on off? if thats so there could just be a problem with the button that you push for ac, its stuck...b/c if you notice in the summer if you leave it pushed in and have the fan speed off it will still cycle on and off

Thanks for the information,
The compresser does engage at all selections( floor, vent, defrost, etc) but when the climate controls are off the compresser doesn't cycle. The heat does work and the AC, when selected, is enouph to make you want to turn the hearter on at times. Good information on the system cycline operations, make sence. But I do know that then I shot off the ignision with the blower fan turned up, the fan use to shut off instantly. Now it has a few seconds of run on.
I was just concerned that this might lead to bigger electrical problems or an indicator of "Something Evil Comes This Way". I't may have always been this way (other than the blower fan run- on) and I just never noticed (wifes old toy handed down to me). I have always given this old girl (the Explorer ) the mechanical love she needed since she was a baby but just started doing a few Mods to it when I noticed the AC thing. The blower fan run - on started a few days after I installed the KKM air filter. I'm not the smartes idiot out there but I know the induction bone isn't conected to the heater ligament. And while running down the fan run - on is when I noticed the AC thing (one thing leads to another)
Again thanks for the info.
