I took my truck to the dealer this week, they had it for 5 days and could only verify that it was acting up. Ford wanted them to tear apart the dash and check the camera button, which clearly is not the issue. The tech wasn’t technically savvy, so I told them to document it and return the truck to me. I will have to find another dealer with some smarter technicians and try again.

Mine ended up being a broken wire inside the camera. Once they replaced that everything went back to working fine.

You mean where the wire harness plugs into the camera at the 3rd brake light, right? You may be on to something, because when I poked around there I was able to get it to work intermittently, but not permanently. Since Ford just wasted a week of my life, I think I’ll take a closer look at those wires. If anyone has the address to send the bill to Ford for wasting my time please share

Yes inside the 3rd brake light housing. They had it fixed in a few hours so it turned out to be nothing major. I was experiencing the exact issues you described so i would start there.

Appreciate the info, I’ll look at it a little closer. Can’t believe the Ford tech wanted to start with tearing the dash apart before checking the wires!

I found another post about a wiring diagram for the camera here and tested the wires with a voltmeter. With the key off, only the ground wire functions (as expected). With the key on, the 12v hot comes on (also expected), and the rest of the wires do nothing - these are the video +, video - and LIN wires per the diagram. When I turn on the camera and switch to the bed camera, I get 8v in what’s supposed to be the LIN wire, and nothing at all in the video +/- wires. To me, this means something upstream is not switching on the camera. I’m going to reset my ForScan changes and see if that does anything. Also, Sync 4 has never updated since new, I’m trying to get that resolved in hopes there is some bug that was fixed in the software that fixes it. Don’t think it’s actually the camera at this point.

Reviving old thread. Anyone ever find a resolution? Just discovered my bed camera isn't working and freezes everything when selected. All other cameras work just fine. Select bed camera and it all freezes until ignition off/on again.

Fiddled with mine most of the day yesterday. Tried unplugging and selecting bed camera. Same symptoms. Reverted back my Forscan changes and no help. Gave up and then this morning it worked once and went back to freezing. Have a new camera coming Monday. Didn't feel like making a dealer appointment

Mine started doing this within the last few days. It gets stuck on a certain camera view and won't change to any other, even when put in reverse it wouldn't change. anybody have an update?

I replaced the the CHMSL camera and the problem went away. Guess they go bad from time to time. Put back the original camera and problem comes back.

dealership claimed they changed something in my dash and my camera worked the first time I tried it after picking it up and now has the same problem as before like they never fixed anything.

Ok, thanks. I think I'll try to take it off and put some dielectric grease in the connector before I take it in for a new one.

Any updates here on the camera?
Mine just started acting up. All the camera views work except the chmsl on mine. (of course it's the most important to me) When I touch the screen for that one it does nothing. All the other ones are working fine when touched on the screen.
I have a feeling it may be in a connection as it quit working a while back and then just started working again after some driving around and hitting a few rough roads for a week or so.
Some mentioned heat....I'm in Phoenix area so yea....plenty of heat bearing down on me.
I haven't started chasing wires/ connectors yet but getting ready to. Any heads up on the connector in the rear around the spare? What am I looking for here?
Any heads up on the best place to acquire a new camera if needed?

Mine is still broke, haven't taken it in yet, acts just like yours. Seems heat related, so worry that when I take it in it will be cooler and not fail

Have to drop the truck off too. I'll do mine and also get the intermittent blinking check engine diagnosed / fixed before I am out of warranty. Also, hope I don't need to take my fifth wheel hitch out, only because of the hassle
