Two more questions

So, we are getting readyt to retire soon and plan to start travelling in our new SD and our newly renovated fifth wheel. We also have three labrador retreivers that go with us (ride in the back seat area; seat folded up). So, anything we put back there takes away space for them. I would like to find a NON powered, insulated cooler that holds 4-6 bottles of water or soda that will fit in the front of my center console. I keep searching Google, but can't seem to find anything that explicitly states it will fit. So, does anybody have a real world suggestion? I don't want to take up the entire center console with it, just a small area in the front.

Second question. We accumulate trash while driving. Not a lot, but cans, dog treats, etc. We used to hang a bag on a power outlet in the front 12 VDC console, but that got in the way of my wife's legs. It can be in back, because the dogs will use it like a treat bag. Anybody have a workable solution? Something that may also fit in the center console?

Thanks for all the help you guys have provided. It is truly appreciated.

Scott

I don't see how any size cooler would fit in the front of the console, maybe I am not understanding where you are talking about putting it.
My truck has the console, and I just don't see it happening.
As to the trash container, same situation, and for sure no way to have it and the cooler sitting in the front area of the console.
Maybe hang some sort of bag on the passenger door somehow.

Not to be too much of a wiseass, but a tape measure could be your friend. You don't mention using one.
At the narrow spots my console looks to be about 9 1/2 wide, 12 front to back and 11 inches deep gives you 1 1/2 inches to the very top edge to play with for lid closure. I'd think some type of flexible cooler with ice pack and 5-6 bottles of beverage could fit with some room to spare.

Mispoke

I clearly did not use the right words....

I was talking about the flip up armrest / center console. I was looking for a small coller that would fit in the front of that, with the lid closed. Not sure what to call it other than a console, but maybe you guys have a unique name for it?

I don't think you're being a wise-***. It's a valid comment. The only issue is that you have to wade through hundreds of insulated coolers on Amazon, look at the specs (hope the are correct, because you know they are not made here) and only then can you select one. I was hoping to swing for the fence and see if someone already had one that they said worked great, kept beverages cold and fit in there! Some have even called me lazy....

You have dimensions provided by someone else, use those and google or go on amazon and find one, there are hundreds that will probably fit in that area though. Below is what I found from a quick google that'll fits the bill. It took me longer to type up this message than search and find one that works.... You could also physically go to Walmart or whatever your desired store is and they likely have a handful in store that will work for you. You're not asking for an oddball size or anything.

As you may have already pointed out in another post, we may be thinking of different consoles. The one in my truck is a deep console between 2 bucket or captain's seats.
Sounds like you may be speaking of the other, smaller compartment that is with the 40/20/40 front seat. That one is essentially a flip up back rest/storage compartment for your center seat. I haven't had one of those in a while. But if memory serves correctly it's a fairly limited space and your options, as you're finding out on your own will probably be limited also. But there are some pretty resourceful people here who have done or tried many things. Hopefully someone steps in to help out.

Don’t know if this helps. I did some research and found these links.

For the center console, an insulated cooler bag may fit the bill. However, if you are non-powered, I would assume you would be using ice. I wouldn’t want water to leak in the center console.

As for trash, I just use plastic shopping bags in a cardboard box with some weight at the bottom. Sometimes the empty bag will come out if I open all the windows. I also carry contractor bags under the back seat and can hook them to the box link handles in the bed.

He wants something that fits in front of the 40/20/40 bench seat, not in a console. Plenty of coolers such as the one I posted in my previous post will work fine.
