1998 Ford L8501
I bought this 1998 L8501 single axle tractor sight unseen with a knowledge challenged seller (US Govt) and havent picked it up yet
VIN is 1FDYN80E4WVA18443.
I am trying to find out if it is a mech or elec Cummins 8.3 and hp, transmission and rear axle ratio.

I don't have much on these, and the VIN isn't going to tell you transmission or axle info. The white plastic certification label will have axle and transmission codes.
1FD = Ford Motor Co USA, incomplete vehicle
Y = Class 8, 33,001 -- 55,000 lbs GVWR, air brakes
N80 = L8501 Chassis Cab, mid-range diesel
E = Cummins C8.3 (mechanical)
4 = check digit, Ford use only, ignore
W = 1998 model year
V = Kentucky Truck Plant
A18443 = serial number
