2002 F250 7.3 about 230,000 miles. Need some advice! A few day ago I was driving down the interstate going about 60mph. A car cut the car in front of me off which caused me to hit the brakes hard. My truck swerved sideways (did not hit anything) I straightened out and shortly after that my truck was never the same. Speedometer moves up and down not reading the right MPH, brake feel stiffer, OD light flashes, and it feel like it sounds like it having a hard time going into higher gear. Also noticed it make a sound when I let go of the accelerator when I’m driving. Replaced the rear speed sensors and it did nothing. Any advice helps.
Blinking OD light means there are transmission codes stored. To read them you'll need Forscan app and a bluetooth adapter. Or a high end scanner like a Snap On, most cheap ones do not work properly on these trucks.
Look in the Tech Folder above for info on Forscan.
You probably need to start with checking the brakes specifically on the side the truck pulled to during the incident. Sounds like the slide pins or caliper pistons may be hung up and dragging the brakes. Could be tearing up rotors and such plus the safety aspect of it all. Then I'd do like aawlberninf350 said and figure out what codes you've got.
It turns out my speed sensor was part of the problem the main problem was my rear diff. Teeth were missing and tone ring are lose. Going to cost me about $4500 to fix.
Ouch. Think I'd be hunting a used runner and just yank that dude outta there. Used too a a good Sterling 10.5 could be had for $500-$1000. Just depended on ratio and limited slip or not. Couldn't say anymore since the whole world seems to have lost their damn minds.
