The right rear brake light on my 1989 E150 is not working, nor is the turn signal. Bulb is good, as the taillight works. I was told turn signal switch issue, but the right front turn signal and the dash indicator flashes as normal. IF it is indeed the turn signal switch, Is there a possibility to run a temporary jumper wire from the hot wire on the left side socket, to the right side socket to at least get the RH brake light to work? I just need it to get by till I get paid in 3 weeks and can afford a new switch
Make sure the bulb socket is good
Check power and ground wires to the socket
Bulb good, but is it the correct one? 1157 and not a 1156 right?
Older than your truck I would suspect the TS switch too
Your 89 not so much
Check to see if any of the wires are coming out of the TS switch connector
They have a tendency to pull out after repeated use of the tilt

Yes is correct 1157 bulb. I plan on tearing into it more over the weekend
Maybe some of this info will help you out.

The connector circled in green is from the main harness to the harness that goes to the rear of the van.

This is from my 1988 EVTM and should be the same as your 89
Below is a EVTM for your 89 https://www.ebay.com/itm/234932655475
Will study those thanks. Found some cobbled/cut wires where previous owner wired in a trailer lighting plug Maybe something in this area could be the cause? I am removing the trailer light plug and harness as I will not be towing a trailer with my van
That is quite likely the cause. Rear wiring usually comes to the back on the left side of the vehicle and crosses over to the right so a break here would affect the right side lighting.
I see you have identified the disconnected wire as "Orange with Black Stripe". The wiring diagram shows the wire that would cause your problem as "Orange with Light Blue Stripe". Maybe that's what's there.
In any case, I'd remove the added trailer wiring and connect like colored wires together. My guess is that will fix your issue.
I see a butt connector in the added wiring. You could use those to make the connections but I'd prefer soldering if available. Either way, shrink tubing over the connections would be a good idea in a location like this that is subject to water.

Let us know how you make out.
It probably was a blue stripe on that orange wire ,instead of black, my phone does not take good photos . I'll put the wiring back as it should be and see what it does then.
