Ok Justin, I'll stop in sometime. I'm usually at Hodges for lunch and park his lot.
ed b.................nice upgrade. Sounds like me back in '96 went from a 1970 F100 to a '96 F350 dually. Just a slight upgrade!
Eric, glad you did not get locked into the dark side.
If you want that 460 to really haul, put a Vortech supercharger on it! That is what I put on mine back when I had it. SWEET. What a blast to drive. I have a picture of the install, if interested.
Have you cut the intake hose restrictions out of it yet? It's in that black plastic connector that holds the twin hoses together from the air cleaner to throttle body. Remove hoses and cut the ridiculous little restrictor horns off with a hacksaw. I think it is for "noise" reduction, ya like we care.
Bumped the timing up? Pull the grey timing plug and bump it up to around 10 degrees. Definite power increase.
Two upgrades that are mandatory.

I tryed to see what you were talking about, Freightrain. It was a bit dark to see the gray timing plug but I'll diffently check it out this weekend. I'm a bit color blind, so seeing gray in the dark is like trying to find camoflage BDUs in the woods. I see the twin hoses and I'll check out the restriction horns at the sametime.
I really appreciate the advice.
I don't think I'll get a supercharger for it. It would be cool but I have Rally car to get back up to snuff. The last two owners didn't know what he was doing with it. I think it will set me back about $3000-$4000 to get it where me and my co-driver will feel comfortable in it for 12 hours and finish a race. The list of parts is long and some are hard to find. I could go in to it but I bore racers with the list.
If I would bump the timing up, would I have to get a higher octane fuel? It is a '96 and there's alot of computer BS on it.
Thanks

The gray plug is somewhere in the middle of the left front fender, down around the hinge area. It is it a a small 1/2" X 1/2" plug going into a pigtail. I think you unplug it, start truck ,set timing and then plug back in. Been like 7 yrs since I did that. As for fuel, I always ran mid grade fuel anyway. Just not a cheapie when it comes to fuel. It should have enough junk on it to keep it from knocking. Just watch it at first to see what happens. You can always cut it back a notch.
The blower was just too sweet. I know about the cost thing and racing. I do it too(drag racing every weekend). I got it from Summit and it was on "special" for $3000(polished version to boot). I spent the weekend putting it on and WOW. Boy did it wake that old 460 up. It never hurt the fuel mileage at all. It did help pull my 40 Haulmark trailer though.

Hi Folks , just checking in from Woodville, Ohio , about 29 miles east of Toledo, 2002 F-150 SB extended cab, 2wd, v-6, I was the one who brought up awhile back about forming a rally this spring or summer, but have not heard much about it from all of you, and of course I haven't been on this site much lately, sorry about that, I,am still going to work on a logo for the Ohio Chapter if you folks want one , or have any ideas about one let me know.
Hope all had a very good Christmas, and have a great 2004.

From near Centerburg, Just moved a year ago from the north Columbus. Needed room to collect my Fords, (so my wife sez).
Had a ‘90 F250 HD 4x4 5spd 351w that I have missed for 3years.
Within the last couple of weeks I have acquired ’76 F100, 2BBL, 4 speed, 4x4 short bed originally a California truck. It has some rust that needs fixin but runs strong. I was told the engine was a 390 but found out its a 360, I am disappointed.
Last week I picked up a 82K mile ’72 F100 302 2BBL, 3 speed long bed 4x2. Was a very good price for all original. This truck is driveable but needs a lot of body work. Especially the cab floors and bed.
I have just received the parts to rebuild the suspension and steering on both F100’s. Steering is kinda sloppy on both.
I also have a ’97 Explorer but I consider it more a 4WD station wagon than a truck.

Hey everyone, Checking in from Parkersburg, WV about 1/2 mile East of Belpre. Thanks to you all for letting me join your forum. I hope we can get together this summer. IDEA! Why don't we set a date sometime in June or July and meet at a State park for a big picnic-cookout??? We could set it up somewhere in the central part of the state so everyone can make a day trip out of it? If there is some intrest I will start a new thread to get peoples ideas.
