Rear Gears????????
I have a 95 f150 shortbox regular cab with a 302. 4x4, 4" suspension lift, 3" body lift, 35 x 14.50 x 15 tires (swampers tsl)Im trying to figure out my rear gears. On the drivers side door jam it says axle 19. A chart told me it would be 3.55's. Is this right for 35" tires? I bought the truck used half a year ago. I dont know if he changed anything there or not. The tag on the rear diff is
S83 8J
55 88 5E25
Both my axles are dana 44's and the rear diff is the 10 bolt design.Is that an 8.8 inch?
Trying to figure out my manual 5 speed tranny aswell. It says

Dont know what this all means.
On the door jam sticker it reads: F0012
T0370
Know idea on that either?????
The tranny was rebuilt a tear ago for the previous owner and it just started grinding gears. Wiggle shifter around in neutral and try again and it goes away??????????

Your rear axle is an 8.8 unless it was changed.
You might contact ford via e-mail and ask them for the build sheet on the truck. Include the VIN. I have done this with other vehicles and other companies and they sent it quickly.

It's a 3.55 open diff...8.8...the other S83 8J and 5E25 are date and manufacture plant codes...
To find out if it's still a 3.55..jack the rear tires off the ground. Rotate the tire once and count how many times the driveshaft turns..should be 3 1/2 times for a 3.55 gear.
