Hey everyone. One of the very few changes from factory the original owner did was to put in an electric fuel pump and remove the original mechanical factory unit. I just bought an original 262 early version 61-63 ( long operating lever) on ebay. My understanding is that with the early version of this, with the linger arm, that there was no "push rod" used, that it went off of the front gearing?? Is this true. Later 262 examples had the fuel pump back in the normal side of the engine position and had a shorter arm and a push rod?? I have scowered the internet and found little to no information.
Another question is that I have the metal fuel line from under the truck up to the top of the passengers side frame in the engine compartment. There is a rubber fuel line going from that up to the original fuel filter canister. Originally was this rubber line correct other than it went to the fuel pump instead of the fuel filter. Again I have found nothing on this in manuals or the internet. Thanks for any help!!
Just use the advanced search on this forum. Type in (262 fuel Pump) and NumberDummy in the username. You will get multiple threads dealing with fuel pumps and part numbers for 262's. Keep in mind any NOS pump or repair kit you might find will be very old and the rubber parts might be at the end of their life and not last very long...
I despise electric fuel pumps but sometimes you just gotta do whatever it takes.
Yes, hard line then a short rubber line before the fuel pump. This isolates any engine vibrations from affecting the hard line that is attached to the frame.
