E4OD Tranny problem
I have read the countless post here on the e40d shudder problem and my problem certainly sounds the same as the others accept for one thing, This shudder only happens when I take off from standing position at a fast speed ........ If I move off slowly I dont feel it........ I have no shudder at any other speed or shifting piont......... Can this be the same torque convertor problem as all the others or is it something different ?......... I have just over 200K on this truck (95 f250 PSD) I bought it used and dont know if the tranny has ever been worked on.......... the engine certainly runs like brand new.

There was some discussion in a Magazine about shudder caused by the drive shaft and U joints. that usually happend on accleration from a stop. If you have a lift kit, this may have been caused by that. Or your U jounts are going or need lubing(if they have fittings). I have also read that the tail shaft or slip joint has a problem known to Ford and you need to have it lubed. The is a TSB on that I believe.

I just wanna tell you guys that you were right on target....... I dont have a tranny problem......... and i did install a lift kit in my truck.......... I went under the truck and dropped the driveshaft hanger.......... Put in a 3/4 inch spacer to align the driveshaft a bit better with the raised suspension................. Test drove the truck......... Problem gone .......... I really appreciate it guys !!!
