I just got the truck home today and I'm not able to open the passenger side door. I have a key to the truck but it won't turn in the door lock and I need to get the door open. What it the easiest way to accomplish that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you trying from the inside? Passengers door turn’s clockwise as you face the inside of the door to unlatch (this automatically unlocks it too without the key). Kinda depends on how froze up the mechanisms are…
I've tried it from the inside as well. I'm sure the mechanism is just frozen but I didn't know if there was an easy way to manipulate it manually to open the door.
If you can reach down and take out the access panel, then you can reach up and spray penetrate on the stuck parts. Spray and let it sit. Be patient and don't force stuff you will regret later. Also, open up the cover on the lock and spray some stuff in there as well. The nice part about it is that it will not be hurting your paint job. you might even end up with a shiny spot! LOL
Yeah the panel is off and I've sprayed it a couple of times already as well as the exterior lock. I will continue to spray it and work on it until I get it open. This is my first 1960 truck and I just didn't know if there was something else I could try to get it open. Thanks for the input.
Oh and I do have a shiny spot on my truck now. LOL
