Ford Explorer 98 Windshield Washer Problem! Please Help!
My front Windshield Washer is not functional. The rear is normal. It uses one washer pump motor for the front and rear. Thinking that it was the motor, I changed it but still the same problem. I checked the hoses if clogged, all were clear. Please help! Where should look next. Thanks!
Our 96 Explorer has a similar problem in that the washers don't spray until you've held the switch on for maybe 10 to 30 seconds. Sometimes it works immediately, sometimes not at all.
Don't know if the ford has the same problem but my Volvo had similar problems until I replaced the plastic check valves that connect the rubber hoses going to the winshield sprayers. Not that expensive for the Volvo.
I tried it but it didn't work. Parts store wants $35 for the little
part,( No way) Wife said it works when you turn the wipers
all the up to fast. She said its good enough for her.
BTW its hers.
Could be a problem with your multi-function switch in the steering column. Try cleaning it by spraying contact cleaner through the four way flasher switch while simultaneously pushing the switch on and off. Can't hurt and it is fast and cheap.
