Temperature Gauges - Normal Readings?

What are the normal temperature readings for Tans and Ext while cruising and towing? How much boost should I also be at normal cruising, going like 50mph?

I have a set of GlowShift gauges with a trans, boost and ext. Just want to know normal reading and where I should be at while normal driving and towing

Trans 180 to 200 (I have 6.0 cooler and Derale thermostat), coolant 195 to 210 (I have a 203 thermostat), boost depends on terrain and speed, there really is no steady number for that one. by Ext do you mean exhaust? Mine will be in the 800's mostly while cruising and can get close to 1,200 on grades (post turbo) (all stock tuning)

Yes because it is post-turbo. If the temperature is that high after the turbine has done its job extracting energy to drive the compressor, can you imagine what the temperature going into the turbine is? The reason EGT is important is because stuff starts to melt above 1,300°F.

I'll have to pay closer attention this summer lol! I could be wrong. I have 3 turbo diesels and see much higher on my TDI but that's a different system altogether, but it does get confusing to remember all of them. I do remember reading 1250 was about the limit for the 7.3 with short bursts over that OK.

I installed my thermocouple where it was recommended when I installed my Isspro gauge in 2009, which I thought was post turbo but maybe it was pre turbo? Now I gotta go look!

1200f post turbo may indeed be 1400f in the manifold.

That number is PRE-turbo though.

So I just took a look, it is in the DS manifold PRE turbo. Could be I don't spend a lot of time with my truck anymore since I got my TDI and my Sprinter or could be because I am getting old but I'm getting fuzzy on some of this stuff

Assuming bone stock from factory
Cruising, as in not towing, @ 50mph boost would be around 1-2 psi when it's flat. EGTs are around 500 there. Mine were 400 @ 55mph on the drive to work tonight.
Towing would be around 5psi. The waste gate starts bleeding boost around 5, and unless you are going faster turning higher rpm the boost will be low. When towing EGTs will vary greatly depending on the weight, gear, rpm, and terrain. 900-1200 are common

Once you start modifying from stock everything changes and without knowing your specific mods, rear end ratio, and whether or not your in OD we wouldn't have a way to point you towards an accurate guess on normal temps. Usually the EGTs go down, boost goes up, and the MPG will go down
